Most British blackcurrants are grown in the UK for processing into cordials and drinks, largely because their high vitamin C content gives them strong medicinal benefits.

Large acreages are grown across the country under contract for blackcurrant drink manufacturers to ensure supply. Blackcurrants are also sold fresh.
